With only one of the Cook twins playing it certainly wasn’t the case of too many cooks spoiling the broth as Lewes won 5-3. Although, it was not all plain sailing as there was some ill-discipline from the Lewes left back who did not take heed of his warning and gained a yellow card. However, Alex Warner did make up for this by scoring a hat-trick of drag flicks; one of which he roofed into the top right hand corner. The other two goals came from a man that seems to be heading into the season ‘fuller’ confidence; there are utterings that James Fuller might be challenging to be top scorer this season if he carries on this way. Other notable performances came from Sam Heinzl who made his competitive debut for the 1st XI and certainly stepped up to the plate, Matt Clark with another consistently silky performance in the middle and finally his central midfield partner James Callaway who has been dubbed hockey’s answer to Yaya
Lewes will play Canterbury in the second round on Sunday 1st November at home.
