Lewes made it through to their third successive Sussex Veterans final although the score line hides the story behind this match. These were the only sides left from the originally proposed round robin format and decided to play a full length match. East Grinstead arrived with only eight players but creditably fulfilled the match hoping their other players would arrive.

Lewes dominated possession and for the first half stretched the EG side moving the ball around to tire them out. At 4-0 at half time this plan had worked. In the second half Lewes had numerous chances and capitalised on three more to make the game safe at 7-0 with ten minutes remaining before they tired and lost their shape. EG needed no second invitation and got back to 7-3 before the sides traded goals in the final minutes to leave Lewes winners 9-5. Two very tired sides left the pitch.
