Lewes Nalas U14 vs Hawks U14 (Sunday, 3rd November 2024)

Julia Blake-Madigan27 Dec - 02:53

Special mention goes to the players who adapted to play out of their usual positions, ensuring the team’s success despite a shortage of defenders.

Lewes Nalas U14 opened their clash against a newly-formed Hawks U14 team with intensity and cohesion, displaying the advantage of a team with established chemistry. The opening minutes saw Lewes dominate possession and create multiple scoring opportunities, and it didn’t take long for Alicia to capitalize. She scored the first goal just eight minutes into the game, followed quickly by a second, establishing an early lead. Millie added another goal just four minutes before the end of the first quarter, and Alicia completed her hat trick right before the whistle, putting Lewes up 4-0 after just one quarter.

Lewes continued to shine in the second quarter, using coordinated drives up the pitch led by Jaya and strong teamwork involving Amelie and Coco. Even Savannah, who was covering in defense, spent most of her time on the Hawks’ side of the field, showcasing the team’s overwhelming control of the game. Although the Hawks’ goalie made three commendable saves, the pressure was relentless, and Millie scored her second goal just before halftime, leaving Lewes comfortably ahead at 5-0.

In the third quarter, with a series of player substitutions, Lewes maintained their momentum. The atmosphere took on an unexpected touch when surprise fireworks went off nearby, but it was Millie who truly stole the show, scoring a stunning hat trick within just three minutes. Her three rapid-fire goals (2nd, 4th, and 5th minutes) brought her tally to five and pushed the score to 8-0. To keep the game sporting, Lewes dropped to 10 players and allowed newer players more time on the field.

The final quarter saw Jaya score two minutes in, and Savannah added another at the 12-minute mark. Lewes also earned their first and only short corner of the match, and although some players from practice were now on the bench, the team organized effectively. Savannah injected the ball, and Lottie completed the scoring, sealing a decisive 11-0 victory.
