Women’s 5s V Crawley 2
The women’s 5s came up against a strong Crawley side this morning, giving the spectators an action-packed game!
There was a great use of width from Bea and Ruby, and along with Zoe, they showed some lovely work and good skills moving forward, creating some great goal attempts.
The defence did a super job at the back with some lovely guidance and encouragement from Claude.
Crawley’s short corner was thwarted by an amazing save from Isabel leaving the score 0-0 at halftime.
The second half brought the rain, some dubious umpiring, some passionate managing and an unwanted goal from the opposition, but Lewes stayed determined and driven.
The game remained action-packed and Crawley found their short corner met with an impressive clearance from Julia.
Unfortunately, a good penalty attempt from Ruby was saved and sadly met with very unsportsmanlike celebrations from the opposition but Lewes dug in and carried on.
In the last knocking, a short corner by Heidi to Ruby saw Lewes get a very much deserved goal and took the final whistle score to 1-1.
