The Mens 5s had their final Falmer fixture of the season hosting Mid-Sussex 3s, Lewes were struggling a bit for numbers this week in the Mens section and the 5s had just the one sub.
With Mid-Sussex chasing promotion and having only lost 1 game this season it was going to be a tough task to earn anything for the makeshift 5s.
The midfield had a tough task trying to disrupt the relentless attacks while also trying to provide support for any attacks Lewes could muster. Unfortunately for Lewes the game became a bit of a defence v attack game, but it took quite some time for Mid-Sussex to break through with a PC goal, the 5s were appreciative of the support from the Brighton Rogues who were cheering on the sidelines after having won the previous game and bounced straight back to equalise with a PC goal of their own when David C converted from the top of the D. Mid-Sussex did come straight back and were 3-1 ahead by the half.
The second half was much the same but Lewes defensively held up to a barrage of PCs a conservative estimate of 20+ during the game, Paul saving many and James running 1 disrupted many and has the bruises to prove it, 6s captain Kevin stepped up for his on pitch game for the 5s this season and did a great job marking the centre forward, unfortunately the 5s game was a prelude to what was come for Kevin and the 6s as Brighton turned up with a stacked team to hammer the Lewes 6s. In the midfield Noah did a great job marking their main playmaker while Tom and David both made a lot of tackles and interceptions to shield the defence.
Lewes did add another PC goal again from David but this time from a slip pass from Mark at the top of the D, the 5s did have their best period of the game in the final 10mins but Mid-Sussex were a deserved winner.
Next week the 5s host South Saxons 4s in a rearranged bottom of the table clash at the Southdown.
