A well-fought win and a fantastic effort from all the players!

The game started with Lewes settling confidently into their positions, ready for a challenging match. The first quarter saw South Saxons come out strong, pressing hard in our half. Miya made a crucial save just four minutes in, keeping the score level. Emily followed up with a fantastic tackle, helping Lewes launch their first drive down the right side of the field. Towards the end of the quarter, Lewes gained momentum, mounting several attacks in the opposition’s half.

In the second quarter, Lewes started much stronger, with Coco driving the ball into the Saxons’ D. South Saxons responded with two short corners, but both were successfully defended thanks to a great run out by Mabel R and Merle’s solid tackling in the D. Lewes soon found an opportunity, as Coco broke up the field again, leading to Phaila earning our first short corner. It was our best chance to score in the first half, but unfortunately, it ended with a 0-0 draw.

After a halftime refresh, Lewes came out determined in the third quarter, with Phaila and Coco working excellently together. This teamwork led to a long corner and Phaila’s shot, which was well saved by the Saxons’ goalkeeper. However, Lewes kept pushing, and after another short corner, injected by Phaila, the rebound fell to Emily, who scored, putting Lewes ahead. South Saxons responded with a quick attack, but thanks to strong defending by Erin and another crucial save from Miya, Lewes held them off. The Saxons did manage to equalize with a goal before the quarter ended, despite several strong shots on goal by Coco.

In the final quarter, Saxons converted a short corner to take the lead. But Lewes responded quickly, with Phaila driving the ball up the field and finding Eleanor on the post, who calmly levelled the score at 2-2. With the game nearing its end, Lewes continued to press, and it was Eleanor again who scored the final goal, securing a 3-2 victory for Lewes. The team played exceptionally well, showing resilience and great teamwork throughout.

A well-fought win and a fantastic effort from all the players!
